Former Ghana physical trainer, Herve Renard has rated the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) as a better tournament than the European Championship.
The ongoing Euros in Germany has attracted a lot of criticism from fans and the media.
However, the former Saudi Arabia coach stated that one can predict the four teams who will win the Euros but it’s highly unpredictable in the AFCON.
“Euro is no less than the Africa Cup of Nations. In the Euros, from the beginning you know at least four or five teams that can win the trophy, but in Africa, all the teams are capable of winning the trophy,” he said as reported by bsnsports.com.ng.
“You can be surprised by the results too. Big nations are beaten by the lesser ones.
“For me, AFCON has a lot of fever and it’s so interesting with many shocks. Many people love it,” he added.
Renard has previously been the manager of Zambia national team, with whom he won the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations; he also won the competition in 2015 with the Ivory Coast, becoming the first coach to win two Africa Cup of Nations with different teams. In addition, he coached Morocco at the 2018 World Cup.
