Black Meteors head coach Desmond Ofei has named a 25-man squad for Ghana’s preparations towards the TotalEnergies CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2027 qualifiers.
The selected players are expected to report to camp at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, to begin preparations for the qualifying campaign.
The team will use the initial camping period to intensify training and play a series of friendly matches as part of preparations for the qualifiers.
The Black Meteors are expected to remain in camp until the start of the qualifiers in November, although players could be temporarily released to honour club commitments before rejoining the national team.
Ghana received a bye into the second qualifying round and will face the winner of the first-round tie between Togo and Libya.
The first leg of Ghana’s second-round tie is scheduled for November 9, 2026, with the return leg set for November 17.
If the Black Meteors advance, they will face the winner of the second-round tie involving São Tomé and Príncipe, Equatorial Guinea or Niger in the final qualifying round.
That final round is scheduled to be played between March 22 and 30, 2027.
The three-round qualifying process will determine the seven teams that will join hosts Egypt at the eight-team U-23 AFCON finals.
The Black Meteors last featured at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, making the upcoming qualifying campaign an important pathway towards a potential return to the global event.
