The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has conducted a mass-casualty road crash simulation at the Wa Regional Hospital to test the readiness and coordination of emergency response agencies.
The exercise was organised by the Wa Municipal Fire Station in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the National Ambulance Service.
It involved a simulated head-on collision with several casualties.
Led by ADO I James, the exercise tested how well the three agencies could work together to respond to a major road crash involving multiple casualties.
According to the GNFS in a Facebook post, the simulation focused on teamwork, communication and coordination among the emergency response agencies.
It also gave the agencies an opportunity to assess their response procedures and identify areas that need improvement when dealing with emergencies involving several casualties.
The exercise forms part of efforts to strengthen coordination among emergency response agencies and improve preparedness for major incidents in the Upper West Region.
