Multiple award-winning musician Ofori Amponsah has stressed the importance of collaboration in music production, saying successful songs are often shaped by the collective ideas of everyone involved in the creative process.
In an interview with Kafui Dey, the musician said artistes should be willing to listen to the opinions of other professionals involved in recording a song rather than insisting on their own ideas.
“When we are recording music, we listen to other opinions from all the people engaged in the creative process,” he said.
According to Ofori Amponsah, each person involved brings a different perspective to the recording, with the musician contributing the artistic direction while the sound engineer also offers technical and creative input.
“The musician has their idea, so does the engineer, but we come to an agreement and work on the song,” he explained.
He said the willingness of everyone involved to exchange ideas and reach a common understanding helps shape the final version of a song, making music production a collaborative rather than individual process.
