The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has released the full fixtures for the 2026 MTN Elite Under-19 Championship, with the youth competition set to begin on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
Sponsored by MTN Ghana, the 11-day tournament will be hosted at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram and will bring together some of the country’s most promising young players from the second-division level.
The participating teams are expected to arrive at the GFA’s technical hub on Monday, August 24, ahead of the opening matches.
Defending champions Eastern Region will begin their title defence in Group A against Upper West Region at 10:30 GMT. Before that encounter, Volta Region will face Ashanti Region in the opening match of the group at 8:00 GMT.
In Group B, last year’s runners-up Brong Ahafo Region will start their campaign against Central Region at 13:00 GMT. The opening day will end with Upper East Region taking on Northern Region.
The tournament is expected to provide an important platform for young footballers to gain competitive experience while showcasing their talent to coaches, scouts and national youth team selectors.
Apart from competing for the championship, players will have the opportunity to improve their technical abilities and demonstrate their readiness for higher levels of the game.
The championship is also aligned with the GFA’s “Power to the Youth” strategy, which seeks to create clearer pathways for talented footballers to progress from grassroots and regional competitions into professional and national teams.
