GFA releases 2026/27 Ghana Premier League fixtures

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially released the fixture list for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, paving the way for another exciting campaign expected to feature intense rivalries, regional derbies and a competitive race for the league title.

Defending champions Medeama SC will begin their title defence with a challenging away fixture against Dreams FC on the opening weekend.

Last season’s runners-up, Bibiani Gold Stars, also face a difficult start as they travel to Bechem United for their first match of the season.

One of the biggest talking points on Matchday One is the historic Premier League debut of newly promoted Debibi United FC, who will welcome Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko in a highly anticipated home fixture.

Fellow newcomers Port City FC will also make their top-flight bow at home against FC AshantiGold 04, setting up an all-newly promoted clash that is expected to attract plenty of attention.

Hearts of Oak will launch their campaign at home against Berekum Chelsea as they aim to challenge for the league title once again.

Elsewhere, Basake Holy Stars will host Swedru All Blacks, Vision FC take on Young Apostles, FC Samartex 1996 welcome Karela United, while Heart of Lions host Aduana FC to complete the opening round of matches.

The GFA has also confirmed the dates for the famous Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak. Kotoko will host the first meeting on Matchday 13, scheduled between December 4 and 7, 2026, before Hearts of Oak welcome their rivals in the reverse fixture on Matchday 30, between April 30 and May 3, 2027.

As always, both encounters are expected to play a key role in the title race.

The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season will officially begin between September 4 and 7, 2026, and conclude on the weekend of May 28 to 31, 2027.

The competition will feature 34 match weekends without official midweek fixtures, a scheduling decision by the GFA aimed at reducing travel demands on clubs and improving player welfare.
