Ghanaian playwright and motivational speaker Ebo Whyte has called for compassion and unity in the wake of the recent flooding that has affected parts of the country as he urged citizens to focus on support rather than blame.
In a reflective message addressed to the public, he described the floods as a painful reminder of life’s fragility, noting that many families have been left devastated after losing homes, belongings, livelihoods and, in some cases, loved ones.
He expressed deep sympathy for those affected, saying the images emerging from flooded communities have been heartbreaking and difficult to watch.
He added that moments like these should encourage empathy as he reminded Ghanaians to support one another rather than engage in judgment or blame.
“Moments like these remind us that life is more fragile than we often admit. Today, it is someone else’s house. Tomorrow, we pray it is not ours. And so, this is not a time for blame or judgment; it is a time for kindness, for checking on one another, for opening our hands where we can, and opening our hearts where words are not enough.”
Ebo Whyte further urged those affected to remain hopeful for swift recovery for all impacted households.
The veteran also called on the public to remain safe during the ongoing rains and to avoid underestimating the dangers of floodwaters.
