The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has announced the death of a Ghanaian pilgrim, Hajia Kubura Salifu, during the ongoing 2026 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued on Thursday, May 29, 2026, PAOG said the 52-year-old passed away in Mina after suffering a sudden illness shortly after completing the Arafat ritual, one of the most important rites of Hajj.
The Office said her family has been informed and that she has been laid to rest in Saudi Arabia in accordance with Islamic burial traditions for pilgrims.
Her passing brings the number of Ghanaian pilgrims who have died during this year’s Hajj to three.
PAOG extended its heartfelt condolences to her family, relatives, and friends, praying for strength and comfort for them during this difficult time.
The Office also noted the spiritual significance attached to dying during Hajj, stating that, in Islamic tradition, pilgrims who pass away in Mina are believed to receive continuous rewards for their pilgrimage until the Day of Judgment.
PAOG prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for the deceased, grant her Jannatul Firdaus, and bless her family with patience and strength.
