Two female prison officers die in Akuse crash

The Akuse District Police Command has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths of two female prison officers following a road accident that occurred early on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

The collision took place between the Akuse Junction and the VRA Junction within the Akuse township. The specifics of how the incident transpired remain unclear.

Two male prison officers who were also present in the vehicle, a Toyota Corolla with registration number GS 4817-17, suffered multiple fractures.

They were initially transported to the Akuse Government Hospital but were subsequently referred to St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua due to the severity of their injuries.

Reports suggest that the news has left personnel at the Akuse Local Prison in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in profound shock and sorrow.

While colleagues mourn the two officers who lost their lives, many are also praying for the recovery of those who are still undergoing treatment in Koforidua.
