Four arrested over murder of Tanoso Akwamuhene
The Ghana Police Service has apprehended four individuals in relation to the murder of the Akwamuhene of Tanoso, located near Techiman, as announced by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The individuals in custody are Isefu Addae, also referred to as Akwasi Addae, Stephen Benne, Augustine Ahiniful, and Martha Mansah. Authorities have indicated that four additional persons are being sought as persons of interest.
In a statement dated November 13, 2025, and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babaanwo, the Public Relations Officer of the CID, it was revealed that preliminary investigations indicated that the late Chief, Nana Owusu Koko, had been destooled from his position as Akwamuhene of Tanoso prior to his demise.
The statement further noted that the deceased contested his removal and was involved in numerous disputes and legal actions with his family.
According to police reports, the 74-year-old traditional leader was shot while tending to his farm and was subsequently declared dead at the Holy Family Hospital.
Investigators discovered his body in a pool of blood, exhibiting approximately 15 visible pellet wounds.
The incident, which transpired in the early hours of Monday, November 10, 2025, has garnered significant attention throughout the Bono East Region.
The four suspects are presently cooperating with the police during the investigation. Dr. Babaanwo stated that efforts have been heightened to locate the remaining suspects to ensure they face justice.
The Bono East Regional CID has assumed control of the case and is appealing to the public for credible information that may assist in apprehending the remaining suspects.
