A speeding vehicle has claimed the life of a 16-year-old on the Vakpo-Aneta road in the North Dayi Constituency of the Volta Region.
Reports indicate that Pascaline Adadevoh, a graduate of Cornerstone Preparatory School and the only child of her mother, was struck by a vehicle transporting political party logistics for the Oti Region.
The tragic accident has left the small village of Aneta in deep grief and outrage.
Tensions heightened in the community after the incident as residents confronted the vehicle’s occupants.
However, police intervention prevented any further violence.
A police delegation led by the Kpando Divisional Police Commander, later visited Pascaline’s family to offer condolences.
The delegation also included the North Dayi Police Commander and the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) commander from Kpando, who expressed their sympathies to Pascaline’s grieving mother.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident as the community mourns the devastating loss of one of its own.
The deceased and one other sibling from Kanuwlou Basic School were knocked down at a camp where they were lodged in preparation for the BECE.
Eyewitnesses said they were meeting their sister who came to visit them at the camp when a speeding vehicle hit them.
One died on the spot while the other was left critically injured.
Confirming the incident, the Volta Regional Director of Education, Francis Agbemadi, expressed sadness over the accident.
