The Resolution Centre established by the Ministry of Education to assist Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates with Senior High School (SHS) placement issues has successfully resolved 90% of the complaints.

Speaking in an interview, the Deputy Coordinator of the Free SHS Secretariat, Nana Afrah Sika Mensah, disclosed that they have resolved challenges including placing candidates who were initially unassigned to schools and facilitating changes in school placements.

Parents and students have been visiting the centre for immediate assistance regarding this year’s SHS placement exercise since October 27.

Common concerns include self-placement, school changes, switching from day to boarding status, and changing programmes.

The busy centre has Free SHS Secretariat staff available to help parents and guardians address their concerns effectively, with police officers present to maintain peace and order.

Nana Mensah noted that the placement process at the Resolution Centre has been running smoothly, praising the cooperation of parents and candidates in resolving their issues.

“So, I think, so far so good. The exercise has been good. The total number of issues that were brought we have solved like 90% of them,” she emphasized, adding that apart from the team at the centre, there were other staff members at the secretariat working to address whatever issue that was brought to it.

Over the weekend, she reported that a significant number of problems presented to the Centre were resolved, assuring, “We ensure that all issues brought to us will be addressed appropriately.”

She highlighted concerns related to gender issues, non-placement, and residential status, confirming that all these matters have been addressed.

She urged parents and candidates to remain patient, emphasizing that no student would be overlooked and that everyone would be placed in a school.
