It was expected Ghana would take their AFCON 2019 qualifiers against South Africa to Accra or Kumasi but the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have decided otherwise.

Due to the clash set for a night game, the GFA have been forced to move away from the initial choice of the Accra Sports Stadium – and instead take the event to the Central Region.

“Ghana’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications fixture against South Africa will take place at the Cape Coast stadium at 7pm on Thursday 14 November 2019,” reported Ghana Soccer.

“The crunchy game was initially set for the Accra sports stadium but it has been rescheduled to Cape Coast since it will be played under floodlights.”

The report also confirmed that the option B venue of the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi is just as unsuitable to manage lighting.

“The floodlights situations at the Accra sports stadium and the Babayara stadium in Kumasi cannot be trusted forcing the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association to opt for the Cape Coast stadium.”

Ghana’s second match of the two will take place away at Sao Tome on 18 November.
