Akufo-Addo Embarks On Six-Day Working Visit to Spain, France, and the United Kingdom
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has departed Ghana for a six-day working visit to Spain, France, and the United Kingdom.
The visit, which includes participation in significant international events, aims to strengthen bilateral ties and explore opportunities for collaboration.
On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, President Akufo-Addo will join West African and Sahel leaders in Cordoba, Spain, for the Aqaba Process meeting.
The meeting, convened by the King of Spain, His Majesty Felipe Juan Pablo Alfonso VI, and the King of Jordan, His Majesty Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein, seeks to address regional security challenges and promote cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
Subsequently, the president will travel to Paris, France, where French President Emmanuel Macron has invited him to participate in the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact.
This significant gathering, scheduled for June 22 to 23, 2023, aims to explore innovative approaches to global finance and discuss strategies for economic recovery and sustainable development.
President Akufo-Addo will proceed to the United Kingdom for a private visit following the summit on June 23, 2023.
Accompanying the president on this important journey is the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr Kwaku Afriyie, along with other officials from the Presidency.
President Akufo-Addo is scheduled to return to Ghana on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
In his absence, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will assume the responsibilities of the Presidency in accordance with Article 60 (8) of the Constitution.
