‘I will be a mother for all’ – PPP flagbearer Dzogbenuku pledges

The Progressive People’s Party Presidential Candidate, Brigitte Dzogbenuku has pledged to be a mother to every Ghanaian if given the nod come December 7.

“I will be a mother for all and a servant to the nation for Ghana to develop. A vote for me is a vote for yourself, family and community,” she said during a campaign tour.

The PPP flagbearer, addressing the chiefs and people of Akyem Kotoku at Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region promised to unify the country and ensure to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.

According to her, the two main parties–the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had polarised the country for their own political interests, which in effect has undermined the development of the country.

She said she intends to bring to the presidential seat, “a new leadership, with bold ideas and actions that will transform the country.”

Commenting on the issue of corruption, the PPP candidate promised to instill good values, discipline and patriotism when voted into power.

She also used the opportunity to formally introduce her running mate, Kofi Asamoah-Siaw to the people of Akyem Oda.

In 2016, Mr Asamoah-Siaw contested the Akyem Oda seat but lost to the incumbent, William Agyapong-Quaitoo.

She advised the public to be wary of political parties promising freebies within this political season.

Ms Dzogbenuku, was the running mate of Papa Kwesi Nduom on the ticket of the PPP in the 2016 general elections.

She is the first woman to have been selected as the party’s Presidential Candidate.

Brigitte Dzogbenuku is the founder and Executive Director of Mentoring Women Ghana (MWG), which inspires and empowers young women to make a positive impact in their communities.

Her commitment to the cause won her the Fortune/Goldman Sachs Women’s Leadership Award in 2008.
