President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says his administration will ensure free and fair elections in  2020.

The elections, he said will be conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner, to allow the populace to choose the persons they want to lead the nation after 2020.

The President gave the assurance when he addressed attendees of the Jubilee House festival of nine lessons and carols, held at the forecourt of the Presidency on Friday.

“For the first time in our country, all three arms of government, the Judiciary, the Legislature and the Executive have each held a festival of Nine lessons and Carols. It is strong testimony of the determination of each arm to be guided in their work by the Christian values of faith, love, charity and reconciliation” the President said.

According to him, “this commitment is particularly important especially as we enter a new year in which the nation is going to conduct a general election. ”

“We have a responsibility to ensure that we put our best foot forward beginning with the people in this house. We will be conducting the 8th general election of our history in the Fourth Republic. We have to ensure that it is peaceful and orderly so that our people can make their choice in freedom and peace, ” he said.

The President is convinced the upcoming elections will be peaceful and this will serve as a reminder of the country’s reputation and further strengthen Ghana’s democratic rule.
