A devastating armed robbery occurred at a gold dealership shop in Mankranso, Ashanti region, on Friday, August 23, resulting in the death of one person and injuring four others.
Eyewitnesses report that around 7 pm, a gang of at least three robbers stormed the shop, sparking a fierce resistance from those present.
The robbers opened fire, hitting five people, with one victim identified as Kwame, who succumbed to his abdominal injuries at the scene.
The four surviving victims, suffering from chest, arm, and other bodily injuries, were initially treated at the Mankranso hospital before being transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Two have since been discharged.
The robbers escaped with stolen gold, money, and valuables belonging to customers and staff.
The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators.
Mankranso, a hub for artisanal small-scale mining in the Ashanti region, is reeling from this act of violence.
