Youth Without Borders commends gov’t for youth ministry
Youth Without Borders Ghana (YWB Ghana) applauds the Government of Ghana for establishing the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment. This bold decision prioritizes youth development in Ghana’s national agenda.
It is noteworthy that, since 2015, YWB Ghana has led the advocacy of the creation of a dedicated youth ministry, emphasizing its strategic importance to youth development, political participation and inter-generational leadership. This will ensure the effective allocation of national resources to the development of young people’s intellectual and economic capacities. Before the 2024 elections, the Ghana Youth Manifesto, a policy document we presented to various party manifesto teams, underscored the importance of a ministry focused on harnessing youth potential and addressing challenges.
The creation of this ministry is timely and necessary, given young people’s critical role in national development. We at YWB Ghana consider this a pivotal moment for advancing youth-related policies and initiatives. We solemnly congratulate Mr. George Opare Addo Esq., on his appointment as the first Minister of the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment. We wish him well and remain committed to collaborating with the Ministry and the Government in general to achieve shared goals.
Note to Press: YWB Ghana is a youth-for-youth development civil society organization and social movement with national, continental and global outlook. YWB believes that sound youth development can be achieved through engagement and information sharing in an atmosphere in which youth self-worth, powers, experiences and achievements are recognized, realized and valued.
