“You’re a frustrated bitter woman” – UG Vice Chancellor to Andrea Pizziconi
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro-Owusu, has denied the sexual harassment allegation leveled against him, describing it as false and malicious attempt aimed at destroying his reputation.
Prof. Oduro-Owusu described Andrea Pizziconi -his accuser-, as a frustrated bitter woman.
Andrea Pizziconi, CEO of Africa Integras accused the VC of sexually harassing her.
In a tweet, Andrea Pizziconi alleged that the ‘sex for grades’ investigative piece by the BBC that implicated some lecturers at the University of Ghana resonates deeply with her.
She wrote that her company, Africa Integras led a US$64million infrastructure investment at UG which was defaulted upon by the current Vice-Chancellor.
“I have remained mostly quiet despite the battery of attacks by Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu on my dignity. I was advised not to make waves and definitely not to raise the #metoo flag if I wanted to put the project back on track, which I do. Now I feel compelled to speak up and draw a direct line between this sex scandal and our derailed project,” she tweeted.
Responding to her allegations in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report, Prof. Oduro-Owusu said, it is all a plot to tarnish his reputation.
“This is the biggest joke since I was born….and I know it is coming from a desperate, frustrated bitter woman. It is not true and I want to believe it is all a plot to destroy my reputation. Why would I comment on her looks or forcefully want to hug her, for what?” he quizzed.
“This is clearly a plot to tarnish my name and the university’s…. it is all because I have stood for the truth in all dealings of the University,” he said.
According to him, he has never held a meeting with Ms. Andrea Pizziconi without the presence of a third party.
“ I have never held a meeting with her without a third party, not even when she requested for both of us to meet. I have always insisted there was a third person sitting in our meetings,” he said.
