Your cement will now cost 9.3% more – GHACEM blames cedi fall
Ghanaian cement manufacturing company, Ghacem, has increased prices in its cement products by 9.3% effective Wednesday, 11 December 2019.
A 50kg bag of Super Rapid 32.5R cement is now GH¢35.3 from the GH¢ 32.3 quoted on the official website of the company.
A 50kg bag of 42.5R Super Strong 42.5R goes for GH¢35.6 up from GH¢32.6.
Also, a 50 kg Ghacem Extra 42.5N cement will be sold at GH¢36.6, which is higher than the May 2019 price of GH¢ 33.6
A statement signed by Commercial Director Nana Philip Archer which was released on Monday, 9 December 2019 attributed the upsurge in prices to the increased cost of production.
“…our cost of production has increased significantly due to the depreciation of the Ghana Cedi against major international currencies, increased utility tariffs, fuel and port duties among others,” the release explained.
There are slight differences for the cement bags purchased from the two factories located in Tema and Takoradi.
