You have been missed at the AFCON – Anthony Baffoe tells Yaya Toure
Deputy CAF General Secretary in charge of player development, Anthony Baffoe, has said in a Twitter post to Yaya Toure that he has been missed in the ongoing AFCON currently underway in Egypt.
The former Ivorian International, Yaya Toure joined Chinese second-tier club Qingdao Huanghai early this month.
He played his first game for his new club on the 6th of July 2019 in a 1-1 stalemate with Hangzhou Greentown.
Yaya Toure expressed his excitement about playing professional football again after a long while in a Twitter post on his official handle.
“It feels good to be on the pitch again doing what I love,” he wrote.
Former Ghana International, Anthony Baffoe, then replied to the post writing,
“Good to see you back on the pitch my brother. You have been missed here at the AFCON as well”.
Yaya Toure led Ivory Coast to win its second AFCON title in 2015 when they defeated Ghana on penalties in the finals at Equatorial Guinea.
The 36-year-old has been without a club since having his contract terminated by Greek giants Olympiakos last December.
Toure’s time away from football forced him to deny retirement rumours in May.
