You don’t have to go abroad to make it – Sammy Flex on Shatta Wale’s Street Crown and his global impact

Sammy Flex, the PR Manager for dancehall superstar Shatta Wale, has emphasised that Ghanaian musicians can achieve international success without relying on foreign promotions or collaborations.

Speaking in an interview, Sammy Flex said Shatta Wale’s musical journey is a powerful example of homegrown excellence. “You don’t have to go to Nigeria or America to promote your music before you blow. You can make it right here in Ghana and still reach the world,” he stated.

His comments come on the back of Shatta Wale’s latest single Street Crown being submitted for Grammy consideration for the 2026 Awards.

The song, which was released on August 6, 2025, was recorded at Trassaco, and the video was shot entirely in Ghana. Despite not being promoted abroad, Street Crown has gained remarkable traction online and earned international attention, reinforcing the global appeal of Shatta Wale’s brand.

Sammy Flex noted that Street Crown represents the essence of Shatta Wale’s resilience and independence. “The song was recorded this year at Trassaco, and the video was shot in Ghana. We didn’t go to Nigeria or America for promotion. You can do it right here and still get the world to notice,” he said.

Beyond the music, Sammy Flex revealed that preparations are underway for Shatta Wale’s birthday celebration, which promises to be one of the biggest events of the year.

The celebration, originally set for Friday, October 17, will now take place on Saturday, October 18, to give fans and well-wishers across the country an opportunity to join in the festivities.

According to him, the event will take different forms designed to honour Shatta Wale’s life, his success, and the challenges he has triumphed over.
