“You cannot confuse us with where your zip is” – Otchere Darko jabs Prof. Gyampo
Gabby Otchere-Darko, a leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has asked the embattled Head of Political Science Department at the University of Ghana, Prof. Ransford Gyampo to desist from blaming government officials of masterminding his entrapment in BBC Africa Eye’s documentary dubbed ‘Sex for Grades’.
Prof. Gyampo was allegedly implicated in the ‘Sex for Grades’ investigations carried out by BBC Africa Eye on how University lecturers sexually harass female students in exchange for grades.
The Political Science lecturer has denied abusing his power to make sexual advances towards students and has threatened to sue the BBC for defamation.
“I didn’t see anything like that [in the video] and I have not done anything like that and I know the people who are behind this, they want to silence me from criticizing them,” Prof Gyampo said.
Reacting to Prof. Gyampo’s claim that some members of the ruling party are behind his entrapment, Gabby Otchere-Darko said, “I wish Prof. Gyampo well in defending his reputation and will defend his right to do so. But he must not link his issue with BBC on this “Sex for Grades” allegation to any ludicrous attempt to ‘zip’ his lips from criticizing Govt. He should not confuse us with where his zip is.”
