Yaw Preko likely to be named head coach of Medeama SC

Ghana Premier League side, Medeama SC, is set to announce former Ghanaian international, Yaw Preko, as the new head coach of the club.

The Tarkwa-based club’s coaching job became vacant following the resignation of Samuel Boadu who left the club last week and joined Accra Hearts of Oak on a 3-year deal.

In spite of that, the club is in the hunt for a new trainer and Preko is believed to be the qualified candidate for the job.

Not long ago, Great Olympics appointed Yaw Preko interim coach to replace Annor Walker who had health issues. Preko took charge of the team for about five games.

After being off for some time, Annor Walker returned to his post and relieved Yaw Preko of the responsibility.

Despite being named as the assistant to Walker, the former Ghana U-20 coach is believed to have turned down the offer for a possible move to Medeama.

He will be assisted by former Elmina Sharks coach, Yaw Acheampong, who lost his job after management cited poor performance by the club in the league.

The decision taken by the Mauve and Yellow team shows a quest to strengthen their technical team ahead of the second round of the Ghana Premier League.
