Xenophobic attacks: Three Ghanaians injured, five arrested in South Africa
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has revealed that three Ghanaians have been injured following unrest in South Africa over recent xenophobic attacks.
Five others have reportedly been arrested over issues of immigration.
According to the Ministry, the five who have been arrested are currently being questioned at the Sunnyside Police station.
The Ministry in a signed statement confirmed the attacks but assured that Ghana’s mission in Pretoria is working to ensure the victims receive the necessary medical attention.
“We will continue to send regular updates and advice to the leadership of the Ghanaian Communities in the various South African provinces about the need to remain calm and stay away from crowded places and large gatherings, ” extracts of the statement available to The Ghana Report reads.
