Woman arrested for running over foot of Police Officer enforcing COVID-19 safety laws
The police have arrested a female driver for running over the foot of a police officer enforcing lockdown directive.
Trudy Boatemaa Dako, was arrested in the early hours of Friday at East Legon underbridge in Accra.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the suspect was driving a hyundai santafe with registration number GE 2309-18 when the incident occurred.
The police, in a statement, explained that the suspect was signalled to stop on reaching the COVID-19 snap check, but she failed to comply with the directive.
It noted that “She failed to stop and instead, run over the foot of one the officers. When approached by another officer, the suspect used abusive words on the officer and all the other security personnel on duty at the checkpoint and threatened to deal with them.”
It further disclosed that the police officer who was unable to walk after the incident has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
“The suspect, Trudy Boatemaa Dako, has been charged under the road traffic laws and would arraign before court on Monday,” it added.
