Source The Ghana Report

A 25-year-old woman has stabbed and killed her rival at Dwinase near Kokotro in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti region.

Mary Akosua Agyemang allegedly attacked the victim, Vida Ennin, aged 28, over a dispute about a man they had both dated.

Mary, the suspect, lives with the man, and they have a child together.

Reports suggest that the two women got into a physical altercation on Monday evening after Mary insulted Vida over her inability to give birth.

Vida returned the favour by raining insults on Mary, leading to another round of exchanges.

In the process, Mary went to grab a knife and stabbed Vida in the face, breast and palm, causing her to bleed to death.

Following the incident, Mary was arrested by the Bekwai police, together with her parents – Felicia Sarpong, aged 61, and Ernest Achirem, aged 63 – who initially shielded Mary from the police.

The three were subsequently arraigned before the Bekwai Circuit Court. They have been remanded in police custody and will reappear on April 26.

The murder shocked the local community, with many expressing condolences to the victim’s family and friends.

The police have appealed to the public to volunteer any information that may assist with the ongoing investigation.
