Whitney Houston reaches a special milestone in the US for the first time

The American public is still in love with Whitney Houston. The vocal powerhouse passed away more than a decade ago, but since then, her popularity has barely dwindled.

More often than not, she finds space on the Billboard charts–at least one–as people keep buying and streaming the smashes that made her one of the most successful singers of all time.

This week, Houston reached a special milestone on the Billboard charts. Even so many years after her death, she’s still hitting new heights and managing impressive feats, which is on brand for the star.

I Will Always Love You: The Best of Whitney Houston has spent 200 weeks on the Billboard 200, as of this frame. The set marks the singer’s first to hit that number of turns on the ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.S.

This week, I Will Always Love You dips slightly on the Billboard 200. The compilation slips from No. 168 to No. 175, though such movements aren’t uncommon among titles that have spent years on the roster, and it will likely rebound sometime soon.

I Will Always Love You shifted just under 9,000 equivalent units in the U.S. last tracking frame. According to Luminate, the title lost just a little more than 1% in terms of total consumption, which is also common. The project managed to sell more than 700 copies during the same timeframe, which is a notable sum.

Despite only rising as high as No. 14, I Will Always Love You ranks as Houston’s longest-charting album on the Billboard 200. Just two other releases from the Grammy winner have managed to hold on for at least 100 turns. Whitney Houston–the album–has thus far spent 176 periods on the roster, while The Bodyguard has collected 156 stints somewhere on the chart.

As it slides backwards on the Billboard 200, I Will Always Love You is also declining ever so slightly on the only other Billboard chart it appears on this week. The set falls from No. 22 to No. 24 on the current edition of the Top R&B Albums list. Its performance on that roster is more impressive than on the Billboard 200, as it’s risen as high as No. 8 and spent 262 weeks on the ranking.
