‘What a player’ – Michael Essien praises Simon Adingra after helping Ivory Coast to win 2023 AFCON
Ghana legend, Michael Essien has congratulated Right to Dream Academy product Simon Adingra for helping Ivory Coast to lift the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The player who currently plays for Brighton in the English Premier League started for the Elephants in the AFCON final on Sunday night in the clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
In a game played at Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara, Simon Adingra was unplayable throughout and provided assists for Frank Kessie and Sebastien Haller to score in the second half.
The two goals inspired Ivory Coast to come from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Nigeria to lift the trophy.
Reacting to the performance of the youngster, Michael Essien who knows Adingra from his days at FC Nordsjaelland posted “What a player, Felicitation Simon Adingra,” on Twitter.
