The Minority in Parliament has disassociated itself from claims that it had endorsed the candidacy of Johnson Asiedu Nketia in the National Democratic Congress(NDC) chairmanship race.

Earlier, during the launch of Mr. Asiedu Nketia’s chairmanship bid, the Deputy Whip of the Minority caucus in Parliament, Ahmed Ibrahim, endorsed the candidacy of Johnson Asiedu Nketiah in the race.

In a statement, the Minority said statements claiming that the NDC Caucus in Parliament supported Mr. Nketiah were untrue.

It said the leadership of the Caucus never met on the matter “and have not taken any decision on the matter.”

The Minority added that “the leadership and the Caucus have no position on any of the candidates vying for the respective positions in the party.”

The Minority also said Mr Ibrahim, the Banda MP, has apologised to the NDC Caucus for the comments.

“We accordingly urge our rank and file and the public to disregard the purported statement made during the launch.”
