We’re Not Against Protests – Ghana Police Service

Source The Ghana Report

The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has assured the public of its commitment to upholding the right to peaceful protest.

A statement from the police said the administration has no opposition to any individual or group wishing to engage in demonstrations.

The police, known for its track record of providing security during past demonstrations, pledged to continue facilitating such events within the bounds of the law.

In their statement, the police called upon the general public to collaborate with them in their efforts to further strengthen the country’s democratic principles while maintaining peace and security.

The statement follows a recent three-day protest organized by the Democracy Hub, which highlighted concerns related to challenging economic conditions.

Additionally, the police took the opportunity to express regret and offer an apology to members of the public who encountered inconvenience due to roadblocks set up by the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protesters on Saturday.
