Interior Minister nominee, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has pledged to eliminate excessive political interference in the recruitment processes of the country’s security services.

During his vetting by the Appointments Committee on January 24, he highlighted the current system’s vulnerability to partisanship and emphasized the need for a fair and merit-based approach.

“We will collaborate with seasoned professionals from the police, prisons, fire service, and other security agencies—experts with decades of experience who understand the challenges and changes in these services. Their insights will guide impartial decisions free from political bias,” he stated.

Mr Muntaka stressed that recruitment must prioritize merit and expertise to meet the nation’s long-term security needs.

“By focusing on fairness and professionalism, we can build a system that earns the trust of all Ghanaians,” he assured.

He concluded with a commitment to reform the process in the best interest of the country, ensuring it serves national objectives rather than partisan agendas.
