We want to return to Africa next season – Samartex President after CAF CL exit
Dr. Richard Nsenkyire, the President of FC Samartex 1996, has urged his players to retain the Ghana Premier League title to secure an immediate return to the CAF Champions League.
The reigning Ghanaian champions saw their run come to an end after losing 4-2 on aggregate to Morocco’s Raja Casablanca in the group stage playoff. The Samreboi-based club was defeated 2-0 in the reverse fixture in Casablanca this past weekend, following a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Ghana.
Now, they are targeting a return to the competition next season by successfully defending their Ghana Premier League title.
“We’ve done what sportsmen have to do; win, lose, or draw, and on this occasion, we’ve lost. But all hope is not lost. It’s our first time in this competition,” Nsenkyire told the players after the reverse fixture in Morocco.
“So don’t lose hope. It’s part of the game. They could have also been out, but it is not the end of the world.
“I believe that as we prepare for next season, if we win the league again, we will have learned our lessons, corrected our mistakes, and improved.”
