The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has announced that it has addressed the issue regarding the migration of Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) members onto the public university grade structure.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 27, the FWSC said a solution had been deployed with representatives from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Ministry of Finance (MoF), Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD), Ministry of Education (MoE), and the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF).
The representatives were part of a committee that was constituted on August 29, 2024, to migrate Colleges of Education staff onto the structure.
“We are pleased to announce that the staff of the Colleges of Education have been successfully migrated onto the university grade structure, with payments made during the January 2025 payroll. This marks a significant milestone in addressing the welfare of CETAG members.
“The research allowance has been disbursed to all eligible colleges, except Akrokerri College of Education, where the processing is still ongoing,” the statement added.
FWSC also assured CETAG of the government’s commitment to solving all post-migration issues while urging members to call off their weeks-long strike.
A statement by the association explained that despite multiple engagements and arbitration awards, the National Labour Commission (NLC) has failed to address its concerns.
CETAG said efforts to resolve the issues through dialogue had proven futile, leaving them with no choice but to take this drastic step.
Meanwhile, the Colleges of Education teachers are yet to respond to FWSC’s announcement.
