The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP)  has refuted claims that it has revealed the bank balances of Cecilia Dapaah to the public.

The OSP, however, admitted that the accounts are under a frozen order issued by its office.

In a public notice, the OSP said the public should disregard any media report “on purported bank balances reported to have been disclosed by the OSP”.

There are reports that court documents filed by the Special Prosecutor indicated an amount of GH¢2.73 million and $590,000 extra cash had been discovered in the former minister’s Abelemkpe residence.

Following the discovery, officers of the OSP seized the hefty sum on the basis of suspicions that it may be connected to illicit activities.

In all, three properties belonging to Cecilia Dapaah, located in Cantonments, Abelemkpe, and Tesano, were subjected to a search.

The application also seeks to freeze Cecilia Dapaah’s bank accounts, including those with Prudential Bank and Societe Generale.

This is part of measures intended to facilitate ongoing investigations into potential corruption and corruption-related offenses involving the former minister.

The OSP, in its application filed at the High Court in Accra, emphasized the necessity of preventing any attempts at concealment or loss of the seized funds.

The application seeks the court’s confirmation of the freezing order as part of a broader effort to ensure the integrity of the investigation.
