We exerted a lot of energy against Hearts; energy drop against Dreams was expected- Dr. Ogum
Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has pinned his team’s drop off in energy in its tie against Dreams FC on the high level of energy Kotoko exerted in its 1-0 win over bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
He said this in his post-game interview after Kotoko beat Dreams FC 2-1 in the immediate game after the super clash in Kumasi.
Two quick goals in the 40th and 43rd minute respectively put Kotoko ahead but the Porcupine Warriors had issues in the second half that got many to attribute Kotoko’s struggles to fatigue.
Though Dr. Ogum admitted that the observation was spot on due to the amount of energy burnt against Hearts, he stated that the drop in energy against Dreams wasn’t significant.
“I don’t think we were down in terms of strength and speed, we were down in terms of endurance; we lost our structure somewhere along the line and sometimes when you lose your structure it makes it look like we don’t have the endurance to continue but when we did the substitutions…I think we had some solidity in the middle, we had some balance, we had some stability and we got the game going especially in the last 15 minutes.”
“You play a big game like Hearts of Oak… they exerted a lot of energy on that day so you expect energy levels to drop but then to me, it wasn’t that significant.”
