We didn’t try to persuade ex-UEW Finance Officer to drop lawsuit – Group
A group calling itself the Concerned Staff from the Finance Office of the University of Education has denied reports that it asked the former Acting Finance Officer of the university to drop his lawsuit against the school.
Bruno Bajuase Chirani sued the school to demand his reinstatement to the post of Finance Officer.
According to the Concerned Staff of the university, they are stunned at the attempt by some self-seeking individuals to deceive members of the public in relation to the case.
Speaking in an interview, Convenor for the group, Emmanuel Botwe, said they only paid him a welfare.
“We visited him on our own accord because he has been absent at work for a long period of time and not what is being perceived in certain quarters,” the convenor for the group said.
According to the group, they did not at any point in their interaction with Bruno Chirani promise to reinstate him to his former position as Acting Finance Officer if he withdrew his lawsuit from the Winneba High court.
“For emphasis, the appointment of the Finance officer of the university is the exclusive preserve of the University’s Governing Council and once the council already had one in office, there was certainly no grounds for us to overturn the decision of our employer,” Emmanuel Botwe said.
Emmanuel Botwe also explained that the group advised Bruno Chirani to return to his current post as Deputy Finance Officer in charge of the Institute for Educational Research and Innovative Studies since the consequence of staying at home could be fatal if he failed to report to work within the 10-day clause.
“We the Concerned Staff of UEW want the public to be wary of the information they receive on UEW issues on mainstream and social media because we know there are unscrupulous people who want to make political gains out of UEW issues to achieve their own interest,” Emmanuel Botwe cautioned.
