We created 3 million Jobs In Our First Term – Employment Minister – Designate
The minister-designate for Employment and Labour, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah has disclosed to Parliament’s Appointments committee that the Akufo-Addo government in its first term in office created three million jobs.
He emphasized that as at September 2020 when he last got a briefing on the figures, the government had provided employment opportunities for 3 million Ghanaians both in the public and private sectors.
“Although I had indicated before that the government had created about 1 million jobs, as of September 2020, when I last checked on the number of jobs we have created, we had so far created jobs for over 3 million jobs. And these numbers cover both private and public sector works,” he stated.
He further stressed: “As a result of our industrialized transformation, nearly 19,000 direct jobs have been created by the 76 operating IDIF firms and helping it to restart operation, Anglogold Ashanti, Obuasi mines have employed over 4, 000 people. We have revived companies like the Ghana Publishing Company as well as Ghana Post”.
Ignatius Baffour Awuah is the current member of Parliament for Sunyani West Constituency and if approved by the Appointments committee will serve in this capacity for the second consecutive term. 2020.
