We are not on strike – TEWU-GH and TUWAG
The Tertiary Education Workers Union of Ghana (TEWU-GH) and the Technical Universities Workers Association of Ghana (TUWAG) have clarified that their unions are not involved in an ongoing strike action.
In a statement dated November 20, the unions said there was confusion surrounding the strike, which had prompted numerous inquiries from their members and the general public
However, the leadership of both unions denied their participation in the strike.
According to the groups, the strike is related to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and not their unions.
“We wish to categorically state that our unions are not on strike. The ongoing strike action is primarily related to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and does not involve TEWU-GH, TUWAG, or workers in Ghana’s public and technical universities,” the statement said.
They therefore urged their members to remain calm and continue discharging their duties as usual.
Meanwhile, the National Labour Commission (NLC) is expected to meet with the leadership of TEWU-TUC and relevant stakeholders on their demands.
The outcome of the meeting will determine if the union will call off the strike or not.
