The Supreme Court has delivered a ruling on the case which popped up after an impasse in Parliament.
Four MPs decided to cross carpets ahead of the 2024 elections, prompting the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to declare the seats vacant.
This action implied the NPP lost the Majority in Parliament to the NDC, with their numbers reduced.
However, the Leader of the NPP Caucus, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, filed a suit at the Supreme Court seeking an interpretation of the Constitution and a stay of execution of the ruling by the Speaker.
But the Speaker disagreed with the Supreme Court’s order to stay his verdict on the matter.
Watch the proceedings at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, October 30, to determine a counterapplication filed by the Speaker.
