The Appointments Committee of Parliament, chaired by Mr Bernard Ahiafor, has summoned political activist and co-convener of Democracy Hub, Mr. Oliver Barker-Vormawor, to provide evidence to back his claims of bribery against committee members.
This follows a social media comment by Mr Barker-Vormawor alleging that members of the committee, particularly the majority side, demand bribes from nominees before approving their appointments.
Addressing the matter, Mr Ahiafor described the allegations as false and damaging, stressing the need to protect the committee’s integrity.
The committee has therefore questioned Mr. Barker-Vormawor concerning the credibility of his statement.
