Police have arrested former NPP Yagaba-Kubori Chairman Kamara Bawah for causing damage to some ballot papers during the parliamentary primary re-run in Walewale Constituency.
The suspect is in custody assisting police investigation after he was picked up on Monday, September 9.
The police were forced to fire warning shots during the election process as violence erupted.
Mr. Bawah is believed to have disrupted the process as the ballot papers were being sorted for counting.
The Ghana Police Service has restored calm in the area.
Security has since been strengthened within Walewale and its environs to ensure law and order.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has declared the Monday voting as null and void.
The party is expected to set a new date for the election before the filing of nominations for the December 2024 parliamentary election in the Walewale constituency closes this week.
