Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa Ladies have booked a place in the final of the WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers after beating  Africa Sports D’Abidjan 6-5 on penalties.

The game played on Wednesday at the Stade Yamoussoukro ended in a 1-1 draw after regulation time with the penalty shootout needed to separate the two West African sides in the semifinal.

The Ivorian side started the game on the front foot, as they took an early lead in the first half of the game.

The Techiman-based side looked the better side after conceding the goal and tried to get the equaliser which was not until the 60th minute when Gladys Amfobea scored.

Both two teams created a lot of chances but failed to utilize the opportunity to go ahead, pushing the match into extra time.

The Ghanaian champions had to play some minutes of the second half and the entire 30 minutes of extra time with 10 women following the sending off of Ophelia Amponsah after receiving her second booking of the game.

Ampem Darkoa converted all their spot kicks but Africa Sports failed in their attempt with the last kick which saw the Ghanaian champions securing a place in the final.

They will face the winner of the game between Bayelsa Queens 🇳🇬 and Espoir in the other semifinal game.
