WAFCON qualifiers: Ghanaian referee Rita Nkansah appointed to handle Nigeria vs Cape Verde clash
A set of Ghanaian referees has been appointed by CAF for the crucial game between Nigeria and Cape Verde in the qualifiers for the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.
Confirming the news, a communique from the GFA on Monday, November 13, said Ghanaian referee Rita Nkansah will officiate the game as the centre referee.
She will be assisted by her compatriots Doris Essuman Darko as Assistant I and Alice Farizua Chakule as Assistant II.
“Ghana’s Rita Ama Boateng Nkansah has been appointed by CAF to referee the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier between Nigeria and Cape Verde.
“Rita who earned her FIFA badge last year has been one of the best referees in the Women’s game in recent years – winning the best female referee of the year award at the end-of-season awards in September.
“She will be assisted on the lines by compatriot Doris Essuman Darko as Assistant I and Alice Farizua Chakule as Assistant II while Barikisu Chisu Salifu serves as the Fourth referee,” the Ghana FA communique said.
The game between Nigeria and Cape Verde is scheduled for the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja on Thursday, November 30.
