The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
In a statement dated Monday, December 30, 2024, WAEC said it has published the results on its website for candidates to access.
The Council revealed that it cancelled a total of 4,108 candidates’ subject results, and annulled the entire results of 483 candidates, while the results of 781 candidates were withheld.
The subject results of candidates from 319 schools have also been withheld over allegations of collusion.
“These cases are still under investigation. The withheld results of these candidates may be released or cancelled depending on the outcome of the investigations,” a part of the statement read.

Meanwhile, an analysis of the results reveals a decline in performance across three core subjects—English Language, Integrated Science and Social Studies compared to the previous year.
Core Mathematics, however, showed no such decline.
The release of the 2024 WASSCE results was eagerly anticipated by students, parents, and educational institutions after a delay due to debt owed by the government to WAEC.
