The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially begun registration for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, First Series (WASSCE PC1).
In a notice issued by the council, registration is currently open and will close on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
Speaking in an interview, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, explained that WASSCE PC1 offers a faster alternative for students to resit one or two subjects without waiting a full year.
This new initiative represents a significant departure from the traditional annual private exam cycle.
Exams for the First Series are scheduled from January 24 to February 15, 2025.
Registration must be completed via the official WAEC website or approved internet cafés.
WAEC has assured candidates of secure and standardized examination conditions while urging prospective applicants to use official communication channels for inquiries and support.
This comes after the council released the provisional results for the 2024 WASSCE.
In a statement dated Monday, December 30, 2024, WAEC said it has published the results on its website for candidates to access.
The Council revealed that it cancelled a total of 4,108 candidates’ subject results, and annulled the entire results of 483 candidates, while the results of 781 candidates were withheld.
The subject results of candidates from 319 schools have also been withheld over allegations of collusion.
