The Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Dr Rashid Pelpuo, has offered a GH₵100,000 reward to any individual or group who can provide credible information leading to the arrest of suspects behind recent killings in Wa.

About 12 people, mostly security guards have been killed by unknown persons.

Addressing journalists at a media briefing, Dr Pelpuo said the killings are causing fear and panic in the Upper West Regional capital.

He added that the incidents have also affected business activities in the area.

The MP also complained of the police’s long silence on the progress of the investigations.

Meanwhile, he said his office was working with the police and traditional leaders in the area to arrest the perpetrators.

This follows the recent cases of the series of murders.

Two security guards were killed on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at their duty posts at the Wa East Education Service office and the Wa Model JHS School respectively.

While details of the incidents are yet to be disclosed, the police have assured residents of the area to remain calm as they work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic events.

“We would like to assure the public, especially the residents of Wa, to remain calm as the Police work to get those involved arrested to face justice,” the Ghana Police Service said in a statement.

The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako has also summoned the Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, to appear before the House on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, to brief lawmakers on the recent killings.
