Visa Racketeering scandal: I don’t have answers, go to the national security – Isaac Asiamah
Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, on Thursday, failed to answer questions from Mion MP Mohammed Abdul-Aziz on the visa racketeering scandal.
The Australia Visa Scandal arose after 50 people who paraded themselves as journalists were refused entry into Australia for the Olympic Games.
Former Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Pius Hadzide together with other government officials were suspended over the visa scandal in 2018.
They were, however, reinstated after investigations.
The sector minister, in his defense to the question asked, said he is not abreast with issues concerning the matter hence referred the Mion MP to the national security.
The Minister insists the national security is the best authority to respond to questions regarding the said scandal.
He noted ““Mr Speaker, this matter was referred to the Ministry of National security for investigations, I will therefore not be in a position to speak further on it,” Mr Asiamah said.
The Speaker of Parliament, was however quick to jump to the defense of the minister, blocked the Mion MP from asking any further question on the matter.
