Management of VIP Jeoun, a popular long-distance transport operator in Ghana, has released a statement to the general public concerning an increment in fares.
According to management, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) is making arrangements to increase the fares, but they have pre-increased their fares due to the hikes in fuel prices and the depreciation of the cedi.
The upward adjustment affects both the standard tour and executive coaches.
The statement, which was released on Sunday, October 23, 2022, indicates that the changes in transport fares by the VIP Jeoun will take effect on October 24.
Fuel prices in the country keep increasing, with pumps selling diesel at GH₵ 15.99 and petrol at GH₵ 13.10 per litre in the country.
Last week, traders went on strike. The Concerned Driver’s Association threatened to increase fares without waiting for the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) to roll out an approved review for passengers.
The government has assured the nation of a stable economy, but investors in the country are also affected by the economic situation.
