One person is reported dead, with several others injured after armed landguards and some wood sellers engaged in a fight at Taifa in Accra.
Information gathered indicates that the land owner had wanted to evict the wood sellers, but they refused to relocate to a different location.
On Wednesday, September 20, some landguards stormed the area to forcefully evict the wood sellers, resulting in a standoff.
The riots resulted in the burning of tyres and the blocking of public roads.
The free-for-all fight also resulted in the destruction of properties.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has intervened to restore law and order.
There is heavy police presence to strengthen security in the area, and the road has been opened to normal traffic flow.
